MS in Sports Administration Fast Facts

  • Admission is handled on a rolling basis if space is available after Feb. 15 and no later than April 1.

The first thing I would tell someone considering the MSSA program is that I would have applied to the program had it been an option! There are numerous professors and staff within the business school with significant backgrounds in the sports community. They are knowledgeable, willing to help, and eager to connect you to someone in the industry. I would also add that Providence College has a much greater alumni network in the athletic community than people believe.  It reaches across collegiate and professional sports and people are always willing to help.

Admission Information

Master of Science in Sports Administration

  • Complete and submit the online application and pay the application fee. The non-refundable fee must be paid after you submit your online application. In preparation of submitting the application, please have your resume and personal essay ready for upload. The application will also ask for two recommenders.
  • Personal Statement: Your essay should address the following areas in 500 words or fewer:
    • Why do you want to pursue your MSSA? Why at PC? And why are you pursuing an MSSA at this time?
    • How does your academic background and work experience qualify you for the admittance to the MSSA program?
    • How will attaining a PC MSSA support your future plans and career goals?
  • Two Recommendations: As part of the online application, you must submit the names and contact information of two recommenders who can speak to your ability to be successful in the MSBA Program. The recommenders will be sent an email directly from the online application system once you click “send to recommender.” No more than two recommendations preferred. The recommenders will complete and submit the recommendation and can upload a letter if they would like. (Note: a recommendation letter is optional; the recommendation form is required.)
  • Official Transcripts (Domestic): The MSSA Program requires transcripts from all previously attended post-secondary educational institutions. This includes both complete and incomplete degrees/studies in the U.S. and non-U.S. institutions. All transcripts must be sent directly from the academic institution, not the applicant. Please have all official transcripts are sent electronically to: gradschool@providence.edu (preferred), or via mail to: Graduate Admissions, Providence College, Office of Admission, 1 Cunningham Square, Providence, RI 02918.
  • Check Application Status: MSSA applicants are responsible for monitoring their application. Applicants can monitor their application status in the application portal. The PCSB Graduate Programs office will email applicants once all application materials have been sent to the PCSB Graduate Programs office and the application is complete. To protect the privacy of our applicants, we do not release the application status or decision via non-official email, phone, or fax. In addition, we do not discuss an applicant’s status with anyone except the applicant.

The MS in Sports Administration is not open to F-1 international students at this time. This program is online and does not offer F-1 student visa sponsorship per Student and Visitor Exchange Program (SEVP) regulations.

Susan Riley, the Providence College School of Business career coach, is a dedicated graduate business students.  Susan partners with PCSB graduate students in exploring career opportunities, setting career goals, and establishing plans to reach them. Susan has worked in higher education for more than a decade. As a professor, she taught courses on entrepreneurship and innovation, management, and international business, as well as co-directed the one-year MBA program at the University of Rhode Island.  Susan now enjoys helping PCSB graduate students find their passion and assist in their career planning and professional development.
