Marketing Beyond the Classroom

Marketing connects products, services, and ideas with consumers, helping businesses to generate profits and fuel the worldwide economy. Socially responsible marketing also promotes the welfare of our society.

PC’s marketing major provides a broad- based business curriculum that leads to the Bachelor of Science degree. Courses focus on developing students’ analytical, creative, and organizational skills — and their ability to communicate clearly — as they learn to identify and respond to consumer demands for products and services.

Students are introduced to the theoretical concepts and applied tools — such as market research techniques and Internet strategies — needed to succeed in today’s fast-paced global marketplace. Several classes feature team projects, which cultivate interpersonal and leadership skills, and often provide opportunities to implement marketing strategies on behalf of local nonprofit organizations.

Marketing majors at PC also enjoy a variety of internship opportunities. Marketing graduates pursue careers in sales, product and brand management, market research, advertising, public relations, retailing, and international marketing, among others.
