PCSB Celebrates the 2024 Inductees to Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Mu Alpha

The Providence College School of Business inducted undergraduate and graduate students into Alpha Mu Alpha, the American Marketing Association’s national honor society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, on Friday, April 12. 59 members were inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha and 41 undergraduate students, 25 graduate students, and 3 faculty members into Beta Gamma Sigma.

To join Alpha Mu Alpha, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) in the student’s major and overall. The PCSB founded the chapter in fall 2011.

Beta Gamma Sigma membership is offered to the top 10% of the junior undergraduate class and the top 20% of the graduating MBA class. It has inducted more than 830,000 students worldwide since its founding in 1913. The mission of BGS is to encourage and honor academic
achievement in the study of business to foster personal and professional excellence, and to advance the founding values and principles of the Society — honor and integrity, the pursuit of wisdom and earnestness.

Jacqueline Elcik, senior associate dean, opened the ceremony followed by greetings from Providence College’s provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, Sean Reid. Lisa Bonalle ’85 was invited to deliver the keynote address. Bonalle, an expert business strategist, is currently CEO at GDS Link; a global credit decisioning software business. Bonalle celebrated the importance of induction into these honor societies and how their time at Providence College will influence their futures for years to come. The Alpha Mu Alpha induction was led by Rae Caloura, assistant professor of practice in marketing. Kris Shepherd, associate director of undergraduate programs led the Beta Gamma Sigma induction. Kathleen Gorman ’24, president of the PC American Marketing Association chapter spoke on behalf of the group and Lauren Viveiros ’24, current BGS president spoke for the PC chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma.
