PC Business Sponsors 2025 PBN Economic Trends Summit

The School of Business served as the presenting sponsor for the 2025 Providence Business News Economic Trends Summit held on January 30. The summit, which focused on examining both local and national economies, featured analysis and discussion from distinguished business leaders in the region.

Thomas Tzitzouris of Strategas Research delivered an analysis suggesting that a recession is unlikely in the immediate future but that inflation will persist through at least 2025. While his outlook was cautious, it was not as dire as some other outlets have projected.

Following Mr. Tzitzouris’s hour-long keynote address, the event transitioned to a panel discussion featuring Rhode Island business leaders. Among the panelists was Sylvia Maxfield, PhD, Providence College’s interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. The panel examined topics including inflation, the impact of the new presidential administration, key sectors in the state such as education, healthcare, and sports, and growth opportunities for Rhode Island.
