Finance Sophomores Prepare for Wall Street Interviews
On what would normally be a quiet Saturday morning in the Ryan Center, February 10 proved to be anything but that. The Providence College School of Business hosted its annual Wall Street Interview Boot Camp, an intensive interview preparation day to mimic real Wall Street interview super days.
The Wall Street Interview Boot Camp was a four-week-long workshop series that culminated in the Saturday interview boot camp. Hosted by Paul Scanlon, director of the Finance Resource Lab, the series is geared toward current sophomores interested in pursuing competitive jobs on Wall Street. After a selective application process, students participated in a four-week seminar that focused on preparing them for the intensive boot camp.
“The prep sessions help our students understand the recruiting process, whose timeline has crept earlier and earlier. I want students to understand the questions they’ll be asked about – both behavioral and technical,” Scanlon reflected on the prep sessions. He uses the prep sessions to help students hone their interests, refine their stories, and be amply prepared to engage with recruiters.
On February 10, the Ryan Center came alive with 24 students and nearly 20 alumni, faculty, and friends of the PCSB with Wall Street backgrounds as interviewers to participate in the boot camp. Students had the chance to participate in four separate interviews where they faced questions that were both behavioral and technical in nature.
The morning kicked off with a young alumni panel comprised of Edward Amodeo ’23 of Citizens, Chad Cannon ’23 from KeyBanc Capital Markets, and Eileen Cooney ’23 of Jefferies. The panelists shared their early-career insights, how they navigated the interview process, and what they’ve learned in their careers.

The boot camp opened doors for many students who had never had the chance to interview in a situation like a super day. “This was really my first time interviewing like this,” Sadbh O’Kelly-Lynch ’25, “I wanted to get more confident and comfortable with some of those more advanced technical questions. There’s a significant difference between learning concepts in class and showcasing my abilities in an interview.” With her sights set on a career in sales and trading, O’Kelly-Lynch left the boot camp better equipped to nail her interviews.
Similarly, James Browning ’26 viewed this as a great opportunity to get experience interviewing. “As a sophomore, I have my sights set on landing an internship and I didn’t really know how to go about the interview process. I feel like Professor Scanlon and the practice interviews have given me the tools to be successful in interviews to land my internship.”
