Bringing Real-World Experience to PC Business
The Providence College School of Business welcomed Kevin Haverty ’87 April 8 and 9 as the most recent executive in residence. Haverty brought years of demonstrated success at ServiceNow and has been renowned for his mentorship to early career professionals. While at ServiceNow, Haverty was responsible for leading the growth of ServiceNow’s go-to-market organization. He currently serves on the board of Sprinklr.
Throughout the course of the program, Haverty met with both undergraduate and graduate students, sharing his story of success and coaching students on how to best launch their careers after Providence College.
Haverty guest lectured in Dr. Ron Jelinek’s Sales Management course. Jelinek reflected, “Kevin’s visit gave students a chance to hear stories from the field and get perspective on things they are learning in class. Leading up to his visit, we were in the process of wrapping up a unit on challenges faced by sales teams when the sales organization goes from serving purely domestic buyers to a global market. Kevin offered applied examples that gave students insight into things sellers should avoid and ways organizations need to adapt to remain effective.”

His visit culminated in a coaching session with student leaders within the School of Business. Johnny Tobin ’24, Emme Conan ’24, Paige Chronopoulos ’24, Dylan McMorrow ’24, and Will Pinckney ’24 had the unique opportunity to learn first-hand from Haverty about navigating an early career in business-to-business sales.
Sylvia Maxfield, dean of the School of Business, stressed the impact of the program. “The executive in residence program allows for a highly customized visit tailored to the strengths and experience of our executives. We are able to leverage their unique talents and perspective to deliver a high-quality experience for students and faculty alike.” Given that each visit is different, each executive partakes in different experiences. She reflected, “Not only do they speak to relevant classes, they provide individual coaching sessions and resume reviews of students and open their extensive networks to our students.”
