Dear Friends,

I am pleased to share an exciting development from the Providence College School of Business. We have welcomed Marianne Doran-Collins ’85 as our first-ever director of data analytics and artificial intelligence, a bold step that reflects our commitment to innovation and to empowering faculty with AI insights and preparing students for leadership in today’s fast-changing business world.

Why does this matter? Because AI isn’t just a trend; it is essential to how businesses operate, compete, and grow. From streamlining processes to driving strategic decisions, AI tools are transforming every industry. Our students need to understand both how these technologies work and how to apply them responsibly, effectively and understanding their societal impact.

Marianne brings vast experience from senior roles at Fidelity, Johnson & Wales University, Sensata Technologies, and Forrester, where she led data-driven strategies and championed technological transformation. Under her guidance, we are building a forward-thinking curriculum and experiences, that blend technical expertise in analytics and AI with the ethical judgment required to lead with integrity.

This initiative goes far beyond learning platforms or coding skills. It’s about shaping leaders who can interpret data, make informed decisions, and leverage technology to create value while considering its impact on people and society. Students will dive into experiential learning, real-world projects, and workshops that challenge them to think critically about AI’s role in business. They will graduate ready to navigate complexity and drive positive change.

Marianne credits her own PC education for sparking curiosity and purpose, and she is eager to mentor the next generation of Friar leaders. Her vision aligns perfectly with the PC Business imperative goal of preparing graduates who combine technical know-how with values-based leadership.

Your support makes this possible. Together, we are shaping a future where business leaders harness technology to advance organizations while serving the common good. Thank you for standing with us as we prepare students to lead with confidence, creativity, and conscience.

Best wishes,
