Congratulations to the 2020 & 2021 Alpha Mu Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma Inductees
On Wednesday April 14, the Providence College School of Business held a virtual ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students who were inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Mu Alpha honor societies. In addition to the 2021 inductees, the School of Business also recognized the students who were inducted in 2020, but were unable to be recognized at a ceremony, due to the onset of COVID-19. This year, the Providence College School of Business inducted one honorary individual, four faculty members, 24 MBA students and 96 undergraduate students into the Beta Gamma Sigma society, and a total of 83 recent or soon-to-be graduates into Alpha Mu Alpha.
Membership into the Beta Gamma Sigma chapter is offered to the top 10% of the junior undergraduate class and the top 20% of the graduating MBA class. Currently, the society has more than 600 collegiate chapters and over 875,000 lifetime members in 190 countries. Beta Gamma Sigma promotes and encourages academic achievement in the study of business and advances the founding values and principles of the society: honor and integrity, pursuit of wisdom, and earnestness.
Alpha Mu Alpha was established to recognize those who are committed to the advancement of excellence in the field of marketing. In order to become a member of Alpha Mu Alpha, students must be in good academic standing and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 in their major and overall studies. Since its founding of the chapter in 2011, the PCSB has inducted more than 160 members.
This year’s keynote speaker was Lynne Berard ’93. Ms. Berard graduated from PC with a degree in management. She currently serves as the president of Samsonite, North America, where she is responsible for the overall management and development of the company in the United States and Canada. This year, Lynne Berard received an honorary membership into the Beta Gamma Sigma society.
The following faculty members were also inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma on Wednesday:

- Edward A. Nelson, M.S., Department of Accountancy
- Rainer Robinson, Ph.D., Department of Accountancy
Following the keynote address, the Beta Gamma Sigma induction was led by Dr. Jacqueline Elcik, senior associate dean of the PCSB and the Alpha Mu Alpha induction was headed by Rae Caloura, practitioner faculty in the Department of Marketing. The event concluded with remarks from Claire Woods ’21, president of Beta Gamma Sigma, as well as Lindsey Cartier ’21 and Siobhan Tierney ’21, president and vice president of the American Marketing Association. Congratulations to all of the 2020 and 2021 inductees!
