Congratulations to the New Alpha Mu Alpha & Beta Gamma Sigma Inductees
The Providence College School of Business inducted undergraduate and graduate students into Alpha Mu Alpha, the American Marketing Association’s national honor society, and Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, on Friday, March 29. Twenty-seven members were inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha and 41 undergraduate students, 13 MBA students, and 1 faculty member into Beta Gamma Sigma.
To join Alpha Mu Alpha, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 (out of 4.0) in the student’s major and overall. The PCSB founded the chapter in fall 2011 and there now are more than 130 members.
Beta Gamma Sigma membership is offered to the top 10% of the junior undergraduate class and the top 20% of the graduating MBA class. It has inducted more than 830,000 students worldwide since its founding in 1913. It promotes and encourages academic achievement in the study of business, and advances the founding values and principles of the society: honor and integrity, pursuit of wisdom, and earnestness.
Jacqueline Elcik, associate PCSB dean, opened the ceremony and Rev. Bonaventure Chapman, O.P., assistant College chaplain, gave the invocation. Connor Altier ’17, now an associate researcher at The Boston Consulting Group, was the keynote speaker. The Alpha Mu Alpha induction was led by Rae Caloura, practitioner faculty in the Department of Marketing. Elcik led the Beta Gamma Sigma induction. Taylor de Boer ’19, the president of Beta Gamma Sigma, and Daniela Miranda ’19, the vice president of AMA, both gave chapter overviews and updates for their organizations.
