Lessons Learned at Amica Insurance: Internship Spotlight with Kayla Ferullo
“Be confident in your skills. Providence has given you a good skillset.”
Kayla Ferullo ’27 is a marketing major from Winthrop, Massachusetts, who spent her summer as a project coordinator intern for Amica Insurance.
If you attend Providence College, chances are you know the Amica brand. It’s visible downtown at The Amp and on the patches of the Boston Celtics jerseys. Ferullo was responsible for maintaining and promoting this brand.

Beginning the Internship
“Apply for everything,” Ferullo said. She found this particular internship on Handshake, but like many other students, she applied for several jobs until she found the right one for her. She submitted her resume, completed video and Zoom interviews, and finally was offered the job.
In June, she started her position. Her daily responsibilities varied from attending and running meetings to working with graphic designers and writers to ensure that projects were on task. She even got to return to Friartown when she attended an Amica Women in Leadership talk with Erin Batth, coach of PC’s women’s basketball team.
Confidence is Key
One of the most valuable takeaways from her experience is the importance of confidence. Learning how to run meetings and advocate for herself in a corporate setting prepared her well for her current role with the college, chief content officer of the Benjamin Family Social Media Fellowship.
In her position, Ferullo is responsible for organizing a content calendar, managing assignments and posts, coordinating work among the fellows, and more. Even in a leadership role, she still aims to listen to her peers.
“Sometimes you’re not meant to be at the table to be the person running the conversation, but you’re there to learn from the people around you.”
