PCSB Faculty & Staff Recognitions
The Providence College School of Business (PCSB) Dean’s Office solicits nominations annually for the following faculty and staff awards for research, teaching, service, and inclusive excellence. Nominations are reviewed and selected by the dean in consultation with the PCSB’s Senior Leadership Team in April of each year, and recipients are recognized at the PCSB Faculty Summit in May.
Emerging Faculty Leaders Fellowship Award
The Emerging Faculty Leaders Fellowship Program, introduced in 2024, aims to reward tenured associate professors or senior professors of practice in the PCSB who proactively support continuous improvement through demonstrating sustained commitment to service and leadership while maintaining and exhibiting excellence in intellectual activity and teaching versatility.
Nomination Requirements
- Evidence of nominee’s sustained record of administrative and stakeholder engagement activities (e.g., department chair/assistant chair, program development and directorship, participation in the PCSB Teaching Development Program, consistent presence at campus-wide and PCSB events and meetings, etc.)
- Evidence that nominee’s students see them as ‘tough but fair’ across a diverse teaching portfolio of varied courses taught and section assignments (e.g., two vs. three day week, times of day)
- Evidence of nominee’s steady, high-quality scholarly output

Dean’s Award for Inclusive Excellence
The Dean’s Award for Inclusive Excellence recognizes a fulltime PCSB faculty or staff member who has demonstrated a commitment to make excellence inclusive by recognizing inequities in student success, identifying effective educational practices for overcoming inequities in student success, and supporting organic development of such practices at the PCSB.

Excellence in Research Award
The Excellence in Research Award recognizes a full time PCSB faculty member for exemplary contributions to their field of research as evidenced by activities such as high-quality publications, grants received, awards received for research (e.g., best paper awards), popular press citations, and invited presentations or research workshops.

- Research statement
- Updated CV
- Additional evidence of research excellence which may include (but is not limited to) the following from the timeframe of January 1 of the most recently completed calendar year through the present:
- Copies of publications
- Copies of forthcoming and/or accepted articles
- Grants received
- Other research-related awards received (e.g., best paper)

Greene Family Award for Teaching Excellence
The endowed Greene Family Award for Teaching Excellence – generously given by Christopher J. and Teresa A. Greene ’18P – recognizes a fulltime PCSB faculty member for exemplary teaching performance. Prior to 2017, this award was named the Excellence in Teaching Award.

- Teaching statement
- IDEA reports from the most recently completed winter, fall, summer, and spring semesters
- Additional evidence of teaching excellence is also recommended (note student testimonials will not be considered)

The Graduate Business Teaching Excellence Award is presented to a PCSB faculty member who exemplifies academic excellence and demonstrates strong commitment to teaching and to the PCSB Graduate Program. Prior to 2022, this award was named the Outstanding MBA Faculty Award.
Nomination Details
Nominations for this award are solicited from current graduate business students for PCSB faculty members who have taught during the current academic-year cycle for the Graduate Business Program.

Statement outlining nominee’s accomplishments and outstanding service to the PCSB during the current academic year. Examples of outstanding service include:
- Contributions to curriculum improvement
- Advising and supporting student co-curricular activities
- Implementation of ideas to increase efficiency and effectiveness of PCSB processes to support faculty, students, and/or alumni

Faculty Mentor Award
The Faculty Mentor Award recognizes a full-time (typically non-administrator) PCSB faculty member who has shown a commitment to the importance of mentoring in supporting and developing the School’s probationary faculty.
Nomination Requirements
Statement outlining nominee’s mentorship efforts and contributions, which may be focused on scholarship but can also involve teaching, service to the discipline or College, and/or work-life balance.
