A New Program: Data Analytics Bootcamp

Keeping pace with increasing demand for job candidates with expertise in data and technology, Providence College welcomed 24 of its rising seniors to a week of advanced training in data analytics. Instructed by Adam Villa, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science, the program, open to rising seniors across all disciplines, marked the first advanced data analytics class offered to PC students.

The five-day program, which ran from August 22, 2016 through August 26, 2016, equipped students with the advanced training needed to develop proficiencies in areas such as data sourcing, query development, and data mining techniques. Students also gained hands-on experience utilizing data analytics software such as R, SQL, and Python.

Following in-class training and instruction, students had the opportunity to prepare a real-world case analysis and present their case to a panel of corporate executives from analytics firms. Students enrolled also received a Data Analytics Certificate following successful completion of the course.

Congratulations to those students receiving the first Data Analytics Certificates granted by PC!
