Marketing Prof. Dan Horne will become associate dean of faculty and curriculum at the Providence College School of Business beginning July 1.
Horne received his Ph.D. from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan; he is an accomplished scholar and an award-winning teacher. He is an internationally recognized expert in global consumer payments systems and behavior and is an editor of the Journal of Consumer Affairs. He has been very successful building on his research, not only for publication, but also for business practice. He founded a London-based marketing research and advisory firm, Gx, where he remains in the role of non-executive director. He formerly served the PCSB as chair of the Marketing Department and as coordinator for Faculty Research and Development, and he is currently a member of the Curriculum Committee. He also has served the College overall as a member of the COACHE Committee and is currently leading the provost’s Ad Hoc Committee that is studying the sustainability of the PCSB’s enrollment trends.
Horne’s role will involve mentorship and support of faculty, particularly around scholarship, new faculty orientation, close work with the Curriculum and Intellectual Contributions Committees of the PCSB, Faculty Professional Development meetings with untenured faculty, ensuring proper implementation of the tenure and promotion process and work on the PCSB’s maintenance of accreditation application.
