Versatility at PCSB: Carley Pearson ’18

The Providence College School of Business is known for creating a well-rounded, versatile student that can confidently engage in all types of conversation. As you walk through the new Arthur F. and Patricia Ryan Center for Business Studies, the students are excited and finding their new spots to work in. But right in the center, socializing with her peers and professors, is Carley Pearson ’18.

After studying abroad in Copenhagen through the Danish Institute in Scandinavia (DIS) during this past fall semester, having Pearson back excites all around her as we wait for what she will accomplish next. Pearson has quickly become one of the most versatile students within the college in her three years here. She is the Vice President of her class, Vice President of Programming for PC’s American Marketing Association, a supervisor on the Intramural Athletic Board, and much, much more. Pearson has taken advantage of every opportunity given to her at PC and has made a difference on each board and club she is part of. What is so impressive about Pearson is that while she is a marketing major and has laid down a wonderful foundation for a future career in marketing with internships at Havas Worldwide and IBM, she values learning about everything the College has to offer. Furthermore, she has added a sociology minor to go along with her business major.

Pearson is a prime example of the kind of student the Providence College School of Business creates: versatile, intelligent, and excited. During her time abroad, Pearson focused on International Business, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation. She took the entrepreneurship experience seriously and teamed up with her fellow students abroad to create a website: InternView. The website provides reviews of internships for students before they apply to certain companies. There is even a short video features Pearson herself explaining how it works. The school of business is proud to have students with an impressive drive like Pearson’s to grow and create opportunities from the foundation her classes have built.

Through Pearson’s experiences and ambition fellow students can better see the opportunities Providence College provides them with. With a little bit of guidance and effort, all students have the potential to experience anything at PC. From the business school to liberal arts courses, Pearson shows that no matter how many activities and clubs you may be involved in, it is incredibly rewarding to take advantage of everything the College has to offer.
