Two PCSB Faculty Members Promoted to Rank of Associate Professor

The Providence College School of Business recently welcomed two of its faculty members to the rank of associate professor.

Mark DeFanti

Mark DeFanti has a long history of service to the School of Business, including posts on the Graduate and Scholarship Committees in the critical period leading up to AACSB accreditation. He has also served on the College-wide Committee on Studies and the Faculty Senate and has been the faculty adviser to Future Friar Executives and the American Marketing Association. He is gaining growing visibility for his expertise in brand management, with a unique contribution in the area of luxury brand management. He works to engage students in experiential learning through the American Marketing Association case competition and in his research projects.

Matthew Keane

Matthew Keane is a graduate of PC’s own Accountancy Department and holds a Ph.D. from Syracuse University. He has taken on two important curricular innovations by revising courses on two different occasions. The first was to integrate the ethics curriculum, “Giving Voice to Values,” and the second was to integrate the PC general education requirement for proficiency in Oral Communication into an upper-level accountancy course. He is a faculty adviser to both the Accountancy Department tutors and lab assistant as well as serving as the faculty adviser to one of the largest PCSB student clubs: the Accounting Association. His research is in the area of audit effectiveness.
