You might recognize Rosy Khalife ’13, a marketing major, and her sister Donna. The pair presented their business, Surprise Ride, to a group of five potential investors on the show “Shark Tank” in 2014.

In a recent Forbes article by Elaine Pofeldt, the Khalife sisters talk about how they turned their dream into a million-dollar business.

“It happens so quickly you have to get into the swing of things, working late hours and on the weekends,” Rosy is quoted as saying in the article. “It’s something you need to do to sustain your business.”

Surprise Ride is a subscription service that sends curated children’s activity boxes each month to kids ages 6-11. The business received a big boost when it was accepted to Betaspring, a Providence startup accelerator, in 2013 and then to ABC’s “Shark Tank” in 2014. What started as a two-person operation has now grown to include 10 employees besides the Khalifes.
